COMMUNITY GUIDELINES

Freedom feels better when everyone feels safe.

GNI is built on dignity, consent, discretion, and shared responsibility. These guidelines describe how we care for one another—at events, online, and throughout the wider naturist community.

OUR SHARED AGREEMENT

A welcoming naturist community depends on more than rules.

GNI welcomes gay, bisexual, gay-friendly, and trans men age 21 and older. We come from different places, generations, body types, backgrounds, and levels of naturist experience. What connects us is a commitment to social nudity practiced with respect, personal choice, and care for the community around us.

These guidelines apply across GNI spaces and activities. Individual events may publish additional requirements, and those event-specific instructions must also be followed.

The standard is simple.

Be the person who makes it easier for someone else to feel comfortable, included, and fully himself.

Respect a “no” immediately.
Protect identities and locations.
Follow the host’s directions.
Leave shared spaces better than you found them.

EIGHT CORE PRINCIPLES

How we protect freedom, trust, and belonging.

These principles are designed to be practical. Use them before you act, and speak with a GNI representative whenever the right course is unclear.

01

Honor every person

Treat members, guests, staff, volunteers, and venue personnel with courtesy. Harassment, intimidation, ridicule, discrimination, unwanted attention, or conduct that makes another person feel unsafe has no place in GNI.

02

Consent must be clear

Ask before touching, photographing, tagging, joining an intimate conversation, or entering someone’s personal space. Consent is specific and voluntary, and it can be withdrawn at any time. Silence, familiarity, nudity, or a membership badge is not permission.

03

Keep naturism in context

GNI celebrates healthy social nudity and does not treat naturism as adult entertainment. Public sexual activity, lewd behavior, or conduct that violates law, venue policy, or event rules is not acceptable in shared community areas.

04

Protect privacy

Do not reveal another member’s identity, attendance, contact details, images, or personal story without permission. Avoid sharing restricted venue information, signs, location tags, staff details, or recognizable background features.

05

Photograph responsibly

Use cameras only where photography is specifically allowed. Ask each recognizable person before taking a picture, check the background, and respect all no-photo badges, posted restrictions, and event notices. Permission to take a photo is not automatic permission to publish it.

06

Follow event direction

Wear and present badges as required, observe access controls, respect designated spaces, and follow instructions from GNI staff, Board members, volunteers, security, and venue personnel. Rules may differ by activity or location.

07

Care for shared spaces

Use a personal towel when sitting nude, clean up after yourself, dispose of waste properly, and honor smoking, fire, pet, noise, and facility restrictions. Community comfort depends on everyone doing his part.

08

Act responsibly online

Carry the same standards into member forums, video gatherings, messaging groups, and social media. Do not share private-directory information, screenshots, unsolicited explicit material, abusive messages, spam, impersonation, or confidential event details.

AT GNI EVENTS

Know the setting. Respect the people in it.

Programs differ, but thoughtful event etiquette is consistent: pay attention to notices, ask before assuming, and cooperate promptly with event leadership.

Nudity, attire & personal comfort

  • Participate according to the format announced for each event or activity.
  • At a nude-designated event, remain nude except where health, disability accommodation, weather, safety, or an announced costume or program makes clothing appropriate.
  • Never pressure another person to undress, pose, participate, or explain a personal accommodation.
  • Keep nudity within approved areas and out of public view where the venue or law requires it.

Badges, access & boundaries

  • Keep your event badge available and wear it where required, including any meal or access-controlled setting.
  • Treat badge colors, markings, or holders as important preference and access indicators.
  • A standard badge does not grant blanket permission for touch, photography, publication, or personal contact.
  • Do not loan badges, enter restricted areas, or invite unregistered guests into GNI-controlled spaces.

Health, hygiene & safety

  • Always place a clean personal towel between your body and shared seating.
  • Monitor your health, follow current event health instructions, and promptly report urgent medical or safety concerns.
  • Do not bring illegal drugs, firearms, weapons, or other prohibited items into GNI or venue spaces.
  • Use fire, smoking, vaping, recreational, and waterfront areas only as directed.

The environment we share

  • Do not litter, damage facilities, disturb wildlife, or leave personal items in common areas.
  • Respect quiet hours, room and cabin boundaries, accessibility needs, and other members’ opportunity to rest.
  • Follow venue rules regarding pets, parking, transportation, food service, alcohol, and outdoor activity.
  • Treat staff and volunteers as partners in keeping the experience welcoming and safe.
PRIVACY IS PARTICIPATION

Members decide how visible they wish to be.

Some members enjoy appearing in event photographs and public outreach. Others need or prefer complete discretion. Both choices belong in GNI.

Respect photo-preference badges and posted no-photo areas, and listen for advance notices about designated photography activities. Before capturing an image, obtain permission from every recognizable person and make sure no one is unintentionally included in the background.

Before you post, pause.

Confirm publication permission. Approval to take a picture may not include approval to share it.

Crop closely. Remove non-consenting people, badges, venue details, signs, and identifiable backgrounds.

Do not identify attendance. Never tag, name, check in, or disclose another person’s participation without his explicit agreement.

Honor removal requests. Cooperate promptly when GNI or a pictured member asks for content to be removed.

ONLINE & MEMBER SPACES

Digital community is still community.

Messages, forums, member directories, virtual events, and private groups can create meaningful connection—but only when members can trust that private information stays private and boundaries remain intact.

Do:

  • Communicate respectfully and accept unanswered or declined contact.
  • Keep member-directory and event information within its intended audience.
  • Ask before adding someone to a group, mailing list, photo album, or public post.
  • Use reporting tools or contact GNI when conduct becomes threatening, deceptive, or abusive.

Do not:

  • Screenshot, record, copy, or redistribute private member content without authorization.
  • Send repeated advances, unsolicited explicit content, commercial spam, or hostile messages.
  • Impersonate another person, expose private information, or use GNI spaces to shame or retaliate.
WHEN SOMETHING ISN’T RIGHT

Speak up early. You do not have to handle it alone.

If you experience or observe harassment, a privacy violation, unsafe behavior, unwanted photography, or another breach of these guidelines, contact a GNI Board member, staff member, volunteer lead, security representative, or event organizer as soon as practical.

Provide the clearest information you safely can: what happened, where and when it occurred, who was involved, and whether immediate assistance is needed. Retaliation against someone who raises a good-faith concern is inconsistent with these guidelines.

How GNI may respond

Depending on the situation, GNI may provide guidance, separate participants, request content removal, restrict access, suspend privileges, remove an attendee, or refer a serious matter to venue security or appropriate authorities.

Event-specific terms may define additional consequences. Cooperation with a reasonable instruction from GNI leadership is expected while a concern is being addressed.

Related GNI policies and resources

These community guidelines provide an organization-wide foundation. Registration terms, venue rules, program notices, privacy policies, and event instructions may add requirements for a particular setting.
